Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has issued a shoot-at-sight order in Dhubri town to control escalating communal tensions following a sensitive incident that took place after Eid-ul-Azha (Bakrid).
The situation turned tense after a severed cow head was reportedly found in front of a Hanuman Temple on June 8. The incident triggered unrest and provoked anger among the local population, prompting the administration to take strict action.
38 Arrested in Connection with the Violence
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma confirmed that 38 individuals have been arrested so far. Authorities have also imposed prohibitory orders and night curfew in sensitive areas of Dhubri.
“Anyone seen indulging in violence will face direct consequences. Shoot-at-sight orders are active during night hours,” the Chief Minister stated.
Security Tightened, Internet Suspended
Security has been significantly increased in the town. Rapid Action Force (RAF) and CRPF personnel have been deployed. To prevent the spread of misinformation, mobile internet services have been temporarily suspended in the district.

Political leaders and community representatives have urged residents to maintain peace and harmony. Peace committee meetings are being held and law enforcement remains on high alert to prevent any further escalation.
